…Mockery, anger, bullying, exclusion and abusive labeling of people that look, think, act, or believe differently is slithering across the air waves… It’s called neo-fascism. Yes the Republicans spent their Saturday afternoon listening to Rush Limbaugh’s sermon. The messiah of the Republican party is preaching that America turn away from religious freedom and choose THEIR way and no other.
I’m listening to Rush Limbaugh speaking to the Republicans gathered in Washington D.C. CNN just had to cut him off as his base character came seething through the screen. He mockingly spoke in a classic stereotypical gay male lisp as he spewed polarizing hate against the Democratic values of religious freedom and equality for all in the United States.
He continues to undermine our founding fathers principals of fighting for religious freedom, life and liberty for all people while seeking to deceive that HE is protecting those values. Hmmm… I think the Bible’s Book of Revelations warns us to see him and others like him for what they are – not what they say they are.
Laissez-faire business practices in the United States is on it’s way out and the Republican Party wealthy elite are turning to their progaganda machine to sway the masses back into line – a pill popping, law breaking, bigoted, fear mongering, old white male spewing hate to mobilize the uneducated masses! This is the Republican party’s ‘best of class’ ?
Rush actually tried to deceive Americans into believing that bleeding heart liberals are responsible for the politics of racism in the Republican party. He would have us believe Democrats are the ones creating cartoons portraying blacks with watermelons, monkeys and lynch ropes. This hate and anger as contrasted against the audacity of hope…
Hmmm…. how do I want God to judge me once I take my last breath? As a Christian woman, how do I want to describe my life to Him? Did I take personal responsibility for my choices in life or seek to point out others short comings instead? Did I live peacefully as Jesus instructed me to do with compromise and compassion or did I choose to seek power over others lest they have power over me – the anatomy of every abuser personified?
Did I fight for life by eliminating ignorance and poverty among young men and women or did I act as the pharisees and preach religious superiority while grinding women into poverty perpetuating unwanted pregnancy, drugs and alcohol, violence and despair. Did I live by Jesus’s commandment to show love by forgiving trespasses as I pray that God will forgive my own?
Did I choose peace instead of war, love over hate, my family’s health, the wonder of earth’s creation and childrens rights to clean air and water in place of corporate profits and laissez-faire greed and corruption? Did I choose to shepard the lesser creatures of the world and practice humane animal husbandry as God commanded or did I choose killing for sport and twisted, sick abuse of animals as a God given right of having ‘dominion over’ ?
Faith and class warfare used as a weapon to manipulate and polarize the masses is nothing new – the Crusaders, Klu Klux Klan, Skin Heads, and Hitler have nothing on Rush. It saddens me so to know many Americans learned nothing from the lessons of the American Revolutionary War, the American Civil War, World War I and World War II. This hate speak puts America on the wrong side of world history and I pray our great nation will continue to choose religious freedom for all, human rights, our children’s right to clean air and water, the ethical treatment of animals, honesty and integrity in business practices and compassion for all peoples.
There is a center for America and it’s not found in the politics of divide and conquer. You won’t find it by being a ‘sheep – le’ blindly following leaders seeking to overflow their coffers by preaching what divides America from the pulpit. I choose light over darkness – and yes in the name of God Almighty as I understand Him to be. Amen.

Change is coming so we hear in this election. The world is changing at an accelerated pace over the last 200 years. It’s amazing really – civilization has been on a colision course toward destroying the world since the first industrial revolution
For sure – things will change but will it be good change? I say it absolutely HAS to be the change that will save our earth from total destruction. I know I sound like an alarmist… it’s because I’m alarmed. How greedy are you? I mean really… If you were told your child has 20 years to live unless you change everything you’re doing right now – would you?
Are you concerned for your job? How about blue collar jobs, small businesses, the credit crisis, the stock market fall, hurricanes, tornados, wildfires, and drought? Global warming… is man made and we must think about the future of our children and grandchildren.
Make the right choice on November 4th – vote for the candidate that will truly bring change to America and bring us out of this economic disaster.

The Ace Hardware store on Broad Street in Cranston (just south of the Norwood Ave intersection) has 60 watt compact flourscent bulbs on sale for 49 cents! If you’ve been wanting to switch but daunted by the price, here’s your chance.
A caveat, though, especially if you have young children in the house, you need to be aware of CFL hazards — the bulbs do contain small amounts of mercury. And remember the bulbs need to properly disposed of — don’t just toss them in the trash.
Here’s a recent update from Clean Water Action. Click on “Read more” for the full text and links for more info.
Parents Advised to Use Common Sense with Compact Fluorescent Bulbs to Avoid Mercury Risk
Boston—In a report released today, Shedding Light on Mercury Risks from CFL Breakage, advocates urged the public to use energy efficient light bulbs in their homes, but to take extra precautions to reduce the risks associated with breaking mercury-containing compact fluorescent bulbs.
“Compact fluorescent bulbs are growing in popularity because they reduce global warming pollution and cut electricity costs,” said Sheila Dormody, Rhode Island Director of Clean Water Action. “By taking some common sense precautions, parents can protect their children from mercury risks and still get the benefits of energy efficient bulbs.”
Recent tests conducted by the State of Maine confirmed results of earlier state studies which suggest that, under certain conditions, breaking a compact fluorescent bulb (CFL) can pose a health risk, especially to infants, pregnant women or young children. The results from the Maine tests are expected to be released soon.
Experts caution parents to avoid using CFLs in fixtures like table lamps that can easily be knocked over, especially in homes with energetic children and pets. When a CFL does break, the most important risk-reducing steps are to use the following safe clean up procedures:
1) Ventilate the breakage area by opening a window.
2) Pregnant women and children should leave the room while the breakage is cleaned up.
3) Do not use a vacuum cleaner or a broom.
4) Parents should also consider removing carpeting or upholstered furniture if a CFL has broken on them, especially from an infant’s room.
“Currently, using CFLs is still the brightest idea out there,” said Michael Bender, director of the Mercury Policy Project. “Yet both government agencies and the manufacturers have a responsibility to inform consumers about what to do—and what not to do—when a CFL breaks. Our message is not ‘Be afraid,’ it is ‘Be informed, and be prepared.’”
The report also recommends the adoption of more comprehensive environmental and human health guidelines by decision makers that, in addition to energy-efficiency, address other concerns, including:
· Reduced toxicity while maintaining performance;
· Improved breakage resistance and longer lamp life (which can reduce manufacturing, transportation and disposal impacts);
· Sustainable manufacturing processes (such as the use of encapsulated mercury-dosing technologies);
· Responsible end-of-life management (particularly through producer responsibility in funding lamp collection and retailer collection programs)
· Innovative technologies such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that use less- or non-toxic materials, that have significantly longer life, are much more efficient for certain applications, and/or that offer other measurable environmental benefits.
CFLs significantly reduce mercury, greenhouse gases and other toxic emissions coming from coal-fired power plants and are three times more efficient than standard incandescent light bulbs.
Yet today, only about 2% of the mercury-containing lamps discarded by consumers and less than 30% of those discarded by government and industry are recycled. Broken mercury-containing lights release an estimated 2 to 4 tons of mercury vapor into the environment each year and that number is projected to grow as more lamps are used.
“Fluorescent lamps are unnecessarily breaking and releasing mercury in homes across the United States when consumers toss these fragile items into their waste baskets, trash compacters and recycling bins,” explained Alicia Culver, executive director of the Green Purchasing Institute, who contributed to the report. “Lamp manufacturers could prevent a significant amount of mercury releases in homes by better labeling their products, offering more mercury-free options, and funding a nationwide lamp recycling program as they have already done in Europe,” she added.

Please forward this to everyone you care about… CNN and the other major news outlets will be releasing this story in the coming days and weeks. This new study is going to change the way we all think of vitamins and supplements – and the companies that manufacture and market them.
Peer Review of a recent clinical study conducted by the University of California Berkeley has been completed. This study has been dubbed the “Landmark Study” and will be the groundbreaking baseline for future clinical studies.
Shaklee Corporation based in Pleasonton, CA came out on top of it’s game as the ONLY company that has proof their vitamins and supplements work and have an impact on disease states.
The table below summarizes some of the key Landmark Study findings. Read on to access the PDF link at the end of this article for the full report.
The numbers are fascinating. You’ll see that taking no multi-vitamin may be safer than taking other company brands. Shaklee Corporation came out of the study with bragging rights that it’s users had markedly lower incidence of coronary heart disease, angina, congestive heart failure, diabetes, stroke and emphysema not to mention lower homocysteine, LDL,(bad cholesterol), Triglycerides and higher HDL (good cholesterol).

Nutrition Journal 2007, 6:30doi:10.1186/1475-2891-6-30
Usage patterns, health, and nutritional status of long-term multiple dietary supplement users: a cross-sectional study:
Abstract (provisional) Published October 24, 2007
Dietary supplement use in the United States is prevalent and represents an important source of nutrition. However, little is known about individuals who routinely consume multiple dietary supplements. This study describes the dietary supplement usage patterns, health, and nutritional status of long-term multiple dietary supplement users, and where possible makes comparisons to non-users and multivitamin/mineral supplement users.
Using a cross-sectional study design, information was obtained by online questionnaires and physical examination (fasting blood, blood pressure, body weight) from a convenience sample of long-term users of multiple dietary supplements manufactured by Shaklee Corporation (Multiple Supp users, n=278). Data for non-users (No Supp users, n=602) and multivitamin/mineral supplement users (Single Supp users, n=176) were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001-2002 and NHANES III 1988-1994. Logistic regression methods were used to estimate odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals.
Dietary supplements consumed on a daily basis by more than 50% of Multiple Supp users included a multivitamin/mineral, B-complex, vitamin C, carotenoids, vitamin E, calcium with vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, flavonoids, lecithin, alfalfa, coenzyme Q10 with resveratrol, glucosamine, and a herbal immune supplement. The majority of women also consumed gamma linolenic acid and a probiotic supplement, whereas men also consumed zinc, garlic, saw palmetto, and a soy protein supplement. Serum nutrient concentrations generally increased with increasing dietary supplement use. After adjustment for age, gender, income, education and body mass index, greater degree of supplement use was associated with more favorable concentrations of serum homocysteine, C-reactive protein, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglycerides, as well as lower risk of prevalent elevated blood pressure and diabetes.
This group of long-term multiple dietary supplement users consumed a broad array of vitamin/mineral, herbal, and condition-specific dietary supplements on a daily basis. They were more likely to have optimal concentrations of chronic disease-related biomarkers, and less likely to have suboptimal blood nutrient concentrations, elevated blood pressure, and diabetes compared to non-users and multivitamin/mineral users. These findings should be confirmed by studying the dietary supplement usage patterns, health, and nutritional status of other groups of heavy users of dietary supplements.

Shaklee Corporation has been a respected provider of health and wellness products for over half a century. The company founder, Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee invented the multi-vitamin in 1915. In 2000, Shaklee was recognized by President Bill Clinton as the first to achieve “Carbon Neutral” status.
NASA astronauts have used a Shaklee product for years called AstroAide to prevent loosing consciousness due to severe dehydration as they re-enter earth’s atmosphere. Fifty two Gold Medalist Olympians have achieved their dream using Shaklee sports and nutrition products even though the company does not pay for athlete endorsements.
The company has invested an impressive $250 million in scientific research and quality control to ensure their products truly impact key health biomarkers. The company also ensures their products contain the quanities and pure ingredients they identify on the label. The company’s standard for their vitamins and supplements is pure – a standard which is higher than organic.

You know I’m remembering the movie “Children of Men” lately. It was a bit edgy but plausible I thought – all the humans are infertile until one woman becomes pregnant. It’s a mad dash to save the mother and the child.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper is bringing public awareness to a problem that is making my head spin. The chemical load that is burdening our bodies – in our bones, brains, muscle and organs. Do I really want to know this?
You bet I do and I’m going to do everything I can to minimize the amount of toxins I’m putting into my body and in my home. I’m past child bearing years but listen up all you couples that are hoping to conceive – do what you can to get the chemicals out of your home.
First, I found an online quiz to simulate my body burden score. Go ahead and see what your Test reveals. OK, so now you’ve taken the test and have an idea what you can actually change and the things that may be just plain out of our control. So let’s focus on one thing today that we can change – are you with me?
Oprah featured non-toxic home care products on her Earth Day show this year – take a minute to see her feature for going green and toxin free I am using these cleaners and they’re just plain fun to use – GetClean . Go ahead and try them – and send your toxic household cleaners to the hazardous waste site. Yes – that’s what I said. The US government considers common household cleaners as hazardous waste. You can see what chemicals you are spreading around your home – on the floor, table, dishes, in the air you breath by visiting NIH .
So now you have the knowledge and knowledge is consumer power. Get the toxins out of your home and the cool thing about the Get Clean products is – they are made by the first company President Bill Clinton recognized back in 2000 as Carbon Neutral. The first company – ever to be Carbon Neutral.
So this is the first of many changes I’ll be challenging you to make in the coming days. Stay tuned and let me know if you are ready to accept the “Body Burden” challenge.
Please forward this to everyone you know – let’s make a difference – one person at a time.

As a woman with asthma I have come to understand the dramatic effects that retail household chemicals have on my breathing. The excerpt below absolutely floors me. These cleaners are responsible for so much disease – kids asthma has increased by 160% in recent years. The EPA states that indoor air pollution is 2 to 5 times greater indoors than outdoors.
If you have children – switch to non-toxic cleaners – if you don’t – switch to non-toxic cleaners.
Being a concerned mother of nearly four, I do care about the wellness of my family and the toxins in my home. But this concern has taken different action over the past years. When I had my first baby, I gave cleaning products a great deal of thought and tried to make as many as I could using earth friendly ingredients and recipes I found online. Then, after the arrival of my second baby, I needed convenience and so I tried some of the green cleaners found at health food stores. They were expensive so at times I had to just use the chemicals that choke you from the cleaning aisles of grocery stores. And finally, after my third baby, I needed maximum convenience and minimum price. So I started to use Clorox wipes, among other things. (I have to be honest, even though I hate to admit it! J
Unfortunately, I was doing more harm than good. A friend of mine suggested I watch Toxic Brew, a news segment produced by a Canadian news station. After watching this video, the reality of what I was bringing into my home began to dawn on me!
Note: You can view Toxic Brew online at http://theglobalsuccessteam.net/
Only a month or so later, I heard of the work of Dr. Doris Rapp, who researches the effects of harmful chemicals on children’s health. (You can find her books, including Is This Your Child’s World? at www.amazon.com
In one of her studies, she tested the effect of bleach on six-year-old’s handwriting. I looked at the printed results, and was amazed at the evidence. Before a bottle of bleach was opened, students wrote their names fairly well. Then, with just an opened bottle of bleach in the room and the fumes wafting through the air, the children wrote their names dramatically different. Some wrote messy, some too small to read, and one even wrote backwards.
Being the devil’s advocate that I am, I thought: “Well, they just printed up the worst case scenarios. Certainly it wouldn’t affect my kids this way.” So, I determined to do the same test at home. I didn’t tell my kids what I was doing. I only told them to write as neatly as they could. They printed their names on a sheet of paper. Then, I told them to hold up their papers while I wiped the table off with a Clorox wipe. As soon as it was dry enough, I had them put their papers down and write their names again. I was shocked! My daughter’s writing was visibly messier; instead of letters being tight and connected, they were loopy and crooked. My son was completely distracted by something while he was writing his name! (This is uncharacteristic of him. He has no attention difficulties.) When he realized that he was talking about something else, he stopped mid-sentence and said: “Wait, I’m supposed to be writing my name!?” The next letter he wrote was upside-down (which my son had never done before). I took it to the next level and had my children move to another room where there were no Clorox fumes. They wrote their names again and proved that without being ‘under the influence’ they could write just as neat as the first time. I could clearly see that the chemicals were affecting both writing ability and focus.
My children are home-schooled and we do chores every morning before school starts. Since they have direct exposure to cleaners, I was burdened by thoughts of how the cleaning chemicals were affecting them in other ways. To make a long story shorter, I promised myself from that time on that I would not subject my children’s minds to danger again, not to mention their lungs and skin.
And I am very pleased with the alternatives that Shaklee offers! The Get Clean products are very powerful, environmentally friendly, cost-effective cleaning products that contain no toxic chemicals and no dangerous fumes! What more was I looking for? I have totally clean, residue-free dishes; totally clean, irritation-free clothes; and totally clean, fume-free chore time! I LOVE IT and I want to spread the word so that every mom can give her children the priceless gift of a toxin-free home!
